OUR TEAM
Nikki Rowe
Nikki has been a yoga facilitator for the last 8 years. However, she was teaching long before her accredited training. When Nikki’s facilitator left her small community in 2012, Nikki volunteered to offer classes from her own lounge room. Although Nikki had completed some intensive trainings, including 200hrs with a tantric school in Thailand, she was technically not trained to teach. However, Nikki cleared the furniture from her small home and offered 2 weekly classes in exchange for lemons or fruits- it was adoringly known as Yoga for Lemons. Since then, Nikki has completed some 500hrs+ of teaching trainings in various styles including, Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin Yoga.
Nikki’s passion lies in creating space for people to experience their own inherit peace and tranquillity. Nikki’s offerings are unique and a true reflection of her personality, often more than just a physical practice and will at times include journaling, painting and drawing.
Nikki is the proud co-creator of Soulspace and is excited to be part of the incredible teaching culture in Bass Coast.
Nikki resides on the Bass Coast works as a kinder teacher and programs coordinator while not at Soulspace.
Amy Wallace
Amy began practising yoga 18 years ago. Her practise has travelled with her around the world from hill tops in Queen Elizabeth national park in Uganda to the red earth of Central Australia and back to her home here in Wonthaggi. It was this idea of yoga practice being a part of her own journey through, and to her self in life that inspired Amy to study and teach yoga. So that her students might also experience the same.
Amy completed her training at Victorian Institute for yoga and teacher training and has been teaching locally for 7 years. She has traditional Hatha roots in her classes but adds her own flavour of vinyasa. Always incorporating the power of music and rhythm into her flows.
Crafting a practice with theme and focus and connecting students to each pose, transition and breath; A lesson with Amy is dynamic and creative inviting freedom into the body and mind like a guided moving meditation.
Expect to be challenged and supported into a deep connection with your body and breath.
Annebelle van Tongeren
Annebelle offers all level classes in a slow flow style at Soulspace with an emphasis on breath awareness, inclusivity and mindful attention on how you're feeling right at this moment in your body, your mind and your heart.
After finishing the 500 hour Diploma of Yoga Teacher Training at Sydney's renowned The Yoga Institute, and taught directly by yoga luminary Michael de Manincor, Annebelle undertook another level of study completing the 150 hour Advanced Diploma of Yoga Teacher Training the following year.
She also studied I-Rest Yoga Nidra, is qualified to teach Yoga for Pregnancy and Post Natal Yoga and has continued to deepen her understanding of this ancient wisdom for modern living with other trainings including two with the well respected yoga educator and co-author of Yoga Anatomy, Leslie Kaminoff.
Annebelle also offers niche sessions integrating philosophy, Yoga Nidra, Mantra and sound bathing as well as Pranayama worskhops and Yoga for Perimenopause, Menopause and the second chapter of women’s lives.
Before her certification with Yoga Australia, Annebelle had a long career in fashion styling, but chose to leave that world and follow her heart into yoga. The concept of tailoring yoga practice to meet the physical and emotional needs of each person resonated with what she offered previously in personal styling. Tailoring yoga practice to the needs of the individuals present made perfect sense. Because every person who steps onto a mat has specific reason for doing so.
Anna Rose
Anna began practicing yoga 2 years ago when she made the decision to move to Phillip Island and begin a new adventure. She fell in love with the way she could move her body with breath and how the practice made me feel.
She knew from very early on I wanted to someday share yoga with others, so in 2020 undertook her 200hr YTT at Warrior One Yoga, her Advanced Hatha Training at Barefoot Yoga Studio, and Yin Yoga Training with Hugh Lee in 2021
To this day Anna continues to practice yoga to experience this feeling of oneness with my body and as a gift of self love. She enjoys practicing both Vinyasa and Soma Chi Yoga yet also loves dabbling in other styles of practice. She is very grateful to have gained the ability to teach at a young age so she may share this knowledge of yoga and offer others the opportunity to experience all the practice has to offer.
Outside of yoga Anna is currently studying Naturopathy to accompany her Yoga teaching. She also enjoys spending time in the ocean, putting pen to paper through poetry and other forms of writing after recently completing a degree in Creative Writing and Media and Communications at Melbourne University.
In Anna’s classes you will find a series of dynamic breath to movement flows, as well of moments of stillness to build strength both mentally and physically. Most importantly her offerings are simply that, an invitation for students to tune into their body, to move and breathe for themselves. “This is your practice”.
